Mrs. Doris Ferner
Doris Ferner, wife of Ron Ferner, Dean of the School of Business and Leadership, died on August 1, 2011, as a result of cancer. During her association with PBU, Mrs. Ferner made an impact, passionately supporting the University, its programs, its students, and its friends. Mrs. Ferner was an active member of PBU’s Women’s Ministries programs throughout the years, serving where needed and spearheading new projects and initiatives.
A special assistant to PBU Presidents Dr. Sherrill Babb and Dr. Todd Williams, Mrs. Ferner had a variety of roles. She hosted events, helped build relationships with the greater community, and made connections, often introducing the President to new friends for the University. Also, she served as the Sam Walton Fellow for PBU-Students in Free Enterprise, one of the most active and diverse student organizations at PBU, advising a team which won the Regional Competition and competed in Nationals.
She was an advocate for the unfortunate, both in the greater community and among the students, faculty, and staff at PBU. No one was voiceless if Doris Ferner had heard of their need. She was a champion of PBU, always ready to share stories of this place and its people. Most of all, she was a woman of God, passionate about serving Him and serving others.
The Ferner family has requested that gifts in memory of Doris be made to PBU for the Ferner Family Scholarship.
