I am pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Dr. Brian G. Toews to the position of Senior Vice President and Provost.  Dr. Toews has served as Interim Provost since May 2009.  He desires to lead PBU in becoming a premier educational institution within Christian higher education. Specifically, Dr. Toews is committed to continuing the development of faculty and academic programs as well as providing new academic opportunities consistent with PBU’s mission and the nature of a biblical university.

Dr. Toews joined PBU in 1993.  He has primarily taught Old Testament studies, but has also served as a professor in the School of Arts and Sciences teaching linguistics, cultural anthropology, philosophy, and film.  He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); an M.Div. and Th.M. from Talbot School of Theology, Biola University; and a B.A. from UCLA.

I am excited about the direction Dr. Toews has begun to take in his role as Provost and I am eager to see what the future holds as PBU continues its commitment to offer diverse and rigorous undergraduate and graduate academic programs.  We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship over the years and I have great confidence in his abilities to lead the University faculty and implement a strong academic vision.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Toews.

-Todd J. Williams, Ph.D.
President
